Our goal:  To provide a hassle free setting where you can feel comfortable bringing your children and howling at the moon.

What is the Strawberry Jam?

The Strawberry Jam is about family and community. It is at its core a fund-raiser for the SHS NY group and the Solid Rock Ranch - Horse Rescue Program...

For the SHS NY Group this event is a most vital project... I've been working for SHS for two years now running the SHS NY Chapter on begged, borrowed, and cobbled together equipment. Our vehicle died this last year after spending way more than we could afford fixing it to keep it running... We need a reliable vehicle to get to and from food drive events, move equipment and deliver the donations to the food banks... We also need to replace our canopies, tables, tent, lights and other supplies necessary for running the food drives... all of that equipment was hand-me-down and has completely fallen apart...

We also need to budget for printing costs for handouts, fliers, signs and the thousands of posters we give out every year...

I'm a retired Vietnam veteran and disabled living on a small veterans disability pension. I've been running the SHS NY Group primarily out of pocket these last two years. As we've continued to expand and do more to help those in our communities, I've been less and less able to keep up and continue to support the effort.

In true SHS Fashion - In addition to a food drive and a fundraiser for SHS NY Group and the Horse Rescue Mission anything left over will go into the SHS general funds for operating costs so we all can continue to expand and meet our mission to feed the hungry one concert at a time...
I am also considering some charitable donations if all goes well.

Thank You
Mama Strawberry

Strangers Helping Strangers*

Picture
The origins of Strangers Helping Strangers (SHS) dates back to 1997, when fans of the Burlington, VT band Strangefolk saw an opportunity to help those less fortunate by collecting non-perishable food at various Strangefolk concerts throughout the Northeast and donating it to food banks and charities in the cities and towns Strangefolk played.  The first official food drive was held in 1998 with the idea that we as fans could give back to those in need in those communities where we go to enjoy our favorite bands. We now work with hundreds of bands and run hundreds of food drives at music events throughout the U.S.

The Primary Goal of Strangers Helping Strangers is to provide a resource for the fans, bands and venues in the music community to facilitate their charitable aims by providing organization, support and resources to care for those less fortunate and in need within the community by running food drives at concerts and festivals and then delivering the donations to local food banks, pantries and shelters near the venue at which it was collected. Together we can make a difference - one concert at a time...

SHS has won many awards including the 1st Jammy Award for Community Service...

Food Drive

As a part of this benefit event Strangers Helping Strangers will be hosting a food drive for those in need in the local community. Please bring a non-perishable food, toiletry, feminine or personal hygiene or baby product donation. We will have a choice of limited edition posters for everyone bringing 5 or more items to donate. We'll also have special gifts for the larger and largest donations including signed posters, cd's and concert/festival tickets... Together we have and continue to make a difference to those in need in those communities where we all go to hear the music play... Feeding the Hungry - One Concert at a Time <3
